Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will visit the US again later this month for medical treatment. An order granting furlough is expected to be issued soon by the state government. The green light from the Union government was also sought to go abroad.
Pinarayi is due to leave on April 23.
The CM had returned from the United States in February after undergoing follow-up treatment at Mayo Clinic, Minnesota, for a fortnight. Also in 2018, Pinarayi Vijayan had undergone treatment at the same American hospital.
He had left the state in mid-January. The Chief Minister did not hand over responsibility to anyone in the ministry prior to departure as he had decided to continue carrying out his official duties online and to handle important files remotely via the electronic file system of the state government.
On his return trip, Pinarayi stopped in the United Arab Emirates for more than a week, attended official programs, including a business meeting with industrialists and inaugurated a public meeting, and took a few days off.
He also visited EXPO 2020 in Dubai during his short stay.
